The Juma REDD Project, managed by the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) in association with the Amazonas government, was awarded by Rainforest Alliance’s Eco-Index as the best monitoring and evaluation methodology category.
The Rainforest Alliance is one of the most important forestry certification organization in the world and it also is responsible to validate carbon forest projects under CCBS (Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standard) and VCS (Voluntary Carbon Standard) – two of the most important standards for voluntary carbon market in the world.
“This acknowledgement has a special meaning to FAS, and it represents the professionalism and the motivation of our team which is responsible to implement the Juma REDD Project,” says Virgilio Viana, CEO at FAS.
Gabriel Ribenboim, Special Projects manager, adds, “this recognition is one of several elements which testifies the technical strength of the Juma Project.”
