The Nobel Prize and ex Vice-President of The United States of America, Al Gore, received loads of applauses after his speech in the CoP-14 in Poznan, Poland.  His presentation had the biggest crowd of the Climate Conference that has started in December 1st and ends this Friday, December 12th.  Gore was rather provocative by declaring that "our Planet is threatened".  He´s also mentioned that it´s urgent to find a solution so that global warming is overtaken".  "We must not negotiate with the true that is the fact that the daily carbon dioxide emissions around the world are making the polar regions melt, lakes disappearing and oceans are suffering the process of acidification".

Al Gore pointed out that Tibetan plateau supply water for 1.4 billion people, who depend on its ice, is now under melt.  "We have been watching record floods everywhere as much as heat waves.  In fact, 21 of the 25 hottest years happened in the last 25 years".  Unhappy with the non active politics coming from the developed countries, Al Gore mentioned that we are hitting the limit of not being able to overcome the problem, which happens to be very important.

Global crisis

As far as the global crisis is concerned, the ex Vice-President believes that the biggest companies as well as its owners are trying to get the politicians leaders out of focus and even though its massive discussions about the climate changes it´s still urgent that the subject is finally mitigated.  "The answer is a strenghtening among the nations in order to increase renewable energy as well as sustainable activities.  The global recession only makes it more difficult.  And many other causes to fear.  Even that the progress seems slow, it is worth it.  We have causes for hope".

The chinese people

"In the midst of the global recession comes the stimulus for a green economy.  China, once seen as an obstacle, announced 6 billion dollars in initiatives to reduce its CHG emissions", emphasized Gore.  When it comes to Brazil, he declared: "Brazil has proposed an impressive climate and forestry reduction plan.  Many Nations are doing the same work.  Another source of optimism is the technologic improvement.  In the USA, states like California and more than 884 cities in the US have embraced carbon reduction actions before US government signs for the Kioto protocol.  The US Supreme Court has mandated the EPA (US Environment Protection Agency) to control and address the national emissions laws", said him.

The new USA President

"Prior to come here, I met with elected president Barack Obama, who assured that climate change will be on the top his agenda.  It is matter of national security.  Science is beyound dispute.  In 2009, the US congress will vigorously discuss and effect the cap&trade laws.  Once Obama takes office, the US will take a global leadership in the Climate Change and help other leading countries to combat global warming".

Optimistic

"Increase CO2 anywhere is a threat and happens to divide the north-south.  Reduced Deforestation must be included on top of CDM projects as much as poverty eradication should be in the agenda.  The division of developed and developing countries shall not exist.  Capacity building is a term to be adopted to developed countries as much as it is under application for underdeveloped.  Global leadership more than never, is necessary.  The goals of hit 350 ppm will soon become a fact.  (presently is 381 ppm).  The early steps have been done.  The road to Kopenhaguen can be done and will be.  It is not a political issue, rather a moral issue.  The climate crisis brings the opportunities to embrace a general moral issue, aside of differences.  I am fully committed to the treaty.  A message from the people of USA: "YES WE CAN"', concluded Al Gore.
